Does size really matter?

Oh it sure does, and today that’s all that Lewis and I talked about.

Lewis Brownlie, Deborah Young and myself (about page) are being a bit more strategic this time round when planning The Melbourne Map.  And before we make the final decision about size we have to consider

  • Paper availability
  • What we need to fit in The Melbourne Map 2.0
  • The size of the scanning machine – what is the maximum size that will fit in the scanner and the size of the glass
  • How the final image will be framed
  • Glass size for economical framing
  • Standard frame sizes
  • Size of the Rotring pens
  • How the heck are we going to fit everything in.

We also checked out the size of screens – on the wish list is the new iMac 27” and the iPad pro 12.9”   Both are going to make life much easier for the research and recording.

So our new numbers are 900 x 1350 – image only, not including borders.

This drawing is going to be one big mother, and we can’t wait to get it on your walls.

This size equates to the 1:1.5 ratio that will bear well when it comes to framing.

Now it’s off to the timber merchants to have that super size MDF board cut, search for the super size archival rag paper and start this super size Melbourne Map.

Experiments with the Rotring 0.2 and 0.1 have the 0.1 in the lead, this will enable the artists to include much more detail in their sketches.

In the meantime we decide on the size of the piece of quiche we will eat for lunch.
