This beautiful engraving by Samuel Calvert, from the original illustration by Albert C. Cooke was completed for publication in the Illustrated Australian News in October 1880, to celebrate the opening of The Royal Exhibition Building.
The State Library of Victoria and the National Library of Australia both hold copies of the newspaper print however, these are aged and damaged.
This copy of Melbourne 1880 is unique as we’ve spent many hours on this map we love, digitally repairing any folds and tears in the paper, restoring the image to its original glory. We feel this is how the artists intended it to be presented.
Giclee printed on archival 300gsm textured rag.
Paper Size: 1100mm wide x 715mm high.
Please allow 5-10 days for us to print and post as the image is printed on demand.
