The Melbourne Map. It all started with the Love of Melbourne
The Baptist Church in Collins Street Melbourne regularly has banners hanging from its grand facade, but on this day in early April, 2016 this flag with LOVE resonated with me.
As I pound the pavement once again with The Melbourne Map at front of mind it is easy to understand why people say they “love” Melbourne. I have my version of love for this city, no doubt you have yours. The reasons will be many and varied, you don’t earn ‘the world’s most livable city’ status for just one reason, there are are of course plenty.
At a subsequent visit to the Collins Street Baptist Church (on Open House Melbourne Weekend) I took this photo of the interior of the Church.
I probably sit more comfortably with describing myself as a spiritual being and am not aligned with any particular religion, but I did enjoy sitting in this serene environment. Melbourne has some beautiful places of worship – My Destination Melbourne has a great overview of them all, including some info on the Collins Street Baptist Church.
As I embark on the process of updating The Melbourne Map, 26 years after its first publication in 1990, I am eager to learn why you love Melbourne, and I’m endeavoring to include the stories and buildings that make it special for all Melbournians and her visitors.
I’d love to hear why you love this city and what buildings are special to you.
